Description of the Technology

The OlaBand, a Bluetooth enabled wearable that is the first of its kind in the world for the offshore industry, was initially designed to overcome the safety challenges faced by personnel working offshore. Due to the high risk associated with offshore installation (platforms, rigs, etc.), the ability to immediately and accurately locate and rescue personnel during an emergency could be the difference between life and death.

The OlaBand infrastructure is also able to generate reports on health (heart rate), personnel productivity by work zone as per the PTW system and transmit short messages from the Control Room to a personnel via the OlaBand.

In addition, trapped or injured personnel will be able to trigger the SOS button on their OlaBand which in turn sends out a distress signal notifying the Control Room to send help.

Part of the expanded infrastructure is an OlaKad and OlaTag, both of which are able to provide real time tracking of personnel (and assets) minus some of the OlaBand characteristics e.g. health data and messaging.
