LITEWALK® anti-slip walkways

Benefit of the Technology
  1. Lighter weight versus the conventional grating provides more design options and better handling during fabrication.
  2. The enhanced anti-slip properties provides better safety and avoid the use of safemate nosing used on stairs treads.
  3. With the height adjustments of the reverse U the strength of the load bearing bars can be varied in relation to the greater height provides greater strength. Test done thus far have indicated that the LITEWALK® walkways are 12 % stronger than the conventionals.

Description of the Technology

LITEWALK® are assembled in panels of about 960mm x 6000mm from load bearing bars that are rolled formed, from 1.5mm thick coils , into a reverse U shaped structural sections with the top pierced and embossed at distinct intervals, and the bottom legs of the reverse U section notched at 300mm spaced intervals for welding of the round polished bars. The load bearing bars are welded to the end plates whose widths varies from 950 mm to 960 mm using the MIG or TIG method of welding. The strength of load bearing bar is derived from the height of the U, and the anti slip properties from the embossed holes at the top of the reverse U.

The anti-slip properties have been tested in accordance to the BS 4592-0: 2006 and obtained a mean coefficient of 0.915 enhanced slip resistance. Load testing at 15.0 KN/m2 produced deflection results of 10.5 mm for CL and 9.0mm for DL. A further advantage is the 33.0% weight reduction when compared against the conventional walk way grating. The walkway panels are designed to BS 4592 standards and are thereof hot dipped galvanised to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123 standards or other client specified standards. The lighter weight provides better handling during fabrication, and more design options , whereas the better anti-slip properties assures enhanced safety during operations. With the hot dipped galvanising the walkways will last for years even under the harsh sea weather conditions. The product is designed and patented by a Malaysian named Dr. Bugs Tan.
