JOB PURPOSE

 

As the Manager for the CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage) Communications Plan, the role is pivotal in developing, implementing, and managing all communication strategies and activities related to CCUS initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for raising awareness, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring strategic messaging aligns with project objectives.

Key responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Developing Communications Plan:
  • Create a comprehensive communications strategy for CCUS initiatives, outlining key messaging, target audiences, channels, and timelines.
  • Ensure alignment of communication efforts with overall project goals and objectives.
  1. Designing Training Programs, Roundtables, and Dialogues:
  • Organise and facilitate training programs, roundtable discussions, and dialogues to raise awareness and educate stakeholders about CCUS technologies and benefits.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify topics, speakers, and logistics for these events.
  1. Content Development for Social Media:
  • Develop engaging content for social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to promote CCUS activities and initiatives.
  • Create compelling visuals, videos, and written content to communicate key messages effectively.
  1. Overseeing Social Media Channels:
  • Manage and monitor social media channels to ensure consistent messaging and engagement with the audience.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  1. Publications of Articles:
  • Coordinate the creation and publication of articles, blogs, and other written materials that reinforce strategic key messages related to CCUS.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to generate content and ensure accuracy and relevance.
  1. Engagement with Key Influencers and Opinion Leaders:
  • Identify and establish relationships with key influencers, industry experts, and opinion leaders in the field of CCUS.
  • Work closely with influencers to amplify messaging and drive engagement with target audiences.
  1. Tracking User Perception and Sentiments:
  • Monitor and analyse public perception and sentiment related to CCUS initiatives through social media listening tools and other analytics platforms.
  • Provide regular reports on trends, feedback, and opportunities for improvement.
  1. Reporting and Progress Updates:
  • Report directly to the Project Manager on the progress of communication activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Develop comprehensive progress reports for stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, insights, and recommendations.
  1. Providing Support:
  • Offer support to team members and stakeholders as needed, including coordination of meetings, events, and other project-related activities.

  1. Strategic Thinking: A Communications Planning Manager needs to be able to develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the plan’s intended objectives.
  2. Audience Analysis: Knowing how to analyse and understand the target audience is crucial. This includes demographic research, psychographic analysis, and understanding audience preferences and behaviours to tailor messages effectively.
  3. Media Relations: Knowledge of media landscapes, including traditional and digital platforms, is important. Understanding how to cultivate relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and other media stakeholders can help in amplifying the key message of the communications plan.
  4. Content Creation: Proficiency in creating various types of content such as press releases, articles, social media posts, videos, and graphics is necessary. This includes understanding different formats and platforms and adapting content accordingly.
  5. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including setting deadlines, coordinating team members, and ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  6. Crisis Communication: Being prepared to handle crises effectively is crucial. This involves developing crisis communication plans, anticipating potential issues, and responding swiftly and transparently when crises arise.
  7. Data Analysis: Understanding how to gather and interpret data related to communication efforts is essential. This includes measuring the effectiveness of communication campaigns, analysing audience engagement metrics, and using insights to inform future strategies.
  8. Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams – external contractors, including marketing and public relations is important for success in this role. Collaboration ensures alignment and consistency across all communication channels.
  9. Industry Knowledge: Staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to the CCUS initiative is necessary for success.
  10. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, including evolving communication trends, shifting targeted goals, and unexpected challenges, is essential for a Communications Planning Manager success.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  3. Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages.
  5. Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  6. Experience in using data as a means to craft the key message(s) of the communications plan and its targeted segments.
  7. Experience in media relations and cultivating relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
  8. Proficiency in content creation across various formats and platforms.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  11. Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to communication.
