The role will provide necessary support to the Reporting Manager on all matters pertaining to management and operations of MPRC's New Projects Unit under the Operations Department. In addition, this role will be responsible for the management and operations of the Regional Gas Market Hub Project and Gas Market Liberalisation Initiatives under MPRC.

Key responsibilities

1. Regional Gas Market Hub Project

  • To support the Project Manager to oversee the overall project management cycle and provide project support for the feasibility study and its subsequent project phases.
  • To plan, monitor, track and report on the implementation progress for the study to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and agreement across all parties.
  • To continuously re-evaluate to ensure the completion of the project according to the stipulated timeline and allocated budget.
  • To engage and contribute in relevant problem-solving activities which may involve both internal and external parties.
  • To support in the subsequent project phases e.g. implementation and execution phase post completion of the study.
  • Provide support to business development and advocacy & advisory works for Regional Gas Market Hub Project and Gas Market Liberalisation.


2. Provide support to business development and advocacy & advisory works for MPRC on Oil & Gas and Energy Industry not limited to the Oil & Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) Industry

  • To provide support and assistance when required to conduct analysis, benchmarking activities and provide recommendations to the management on projects under the New Projects, Operations Department of MPRC related to the Oil, Gas and Energy industry not limited the Oil & Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) industry.
  • To assist in executing initiatives identified in the long term strategy for MPRC in the Oil, Gas and Energy Industry according to various development plans.


  • Have experience working with project's consultants or in consultancy project.
  • Possess knowledge and awareness of Government policies particularly in energy/gas sector (e.g: National Energy Policy (1979), Four-Fuel Diversification Policy (1981), New Energy Policy (2010)).
  • Preferably with good understanding in the relevant oil & gas and energy market.
  • Experience in oil & gas marketing and trading is a bonus.



  • Experience in preparing key project documentations such as presentation materials, professional reports and formal official letters both in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and excellent communications skills.
  • Logical thinking and problem solving: can structure a problem logically and come up with a reasoned solution with the available data points, with the ability to estimate where the data doesn't exist already.



  • Excellent presentation skills and communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel knowledge and capability.
  • The ability and expertise to manage and deliver complex projects within the stipulated targets.
  • Resourceful and able to pick up skills to conduct analysis from databases e.g Platts, GlobalData and other similar market intelligence and/or market research databases.


Other requirements

  • Possess at least a bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience.
