Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation is governed by an active Board; whose members are representatives of Government, MIDA, MATRADE and PETRONAS. The Board is chaired by YBhg Dato’ Sri Idris Jala, Chief Executive Officer of PEMANDU.

Datuk Shahrol Halmi leads the management and staff of MPRC as President/ Chief Executive Officer.

President/ Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation


YBhg Datuk Shahrol Halmi was appointed President/ Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation on May 1, 2013.

Previously, he was the founding Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of 1Malaysia Development Bhd., a strategic development company wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia, to implement new ideas and develop new sources of growth to help transform Malaysia into a thriving economy.

He was previously a Partner of Accenture and Managing Director of the Public Service Group of Accenture Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. with more than 13 years of experience covering the Public Sector, Oil & Gas and Financial Services industries.

Shahrol graduated from the Royal Military College, Sg Besi and Stanford University, California.

Ramlan Abdul Malek
Vice President, Petroleum Management,
Exploration & Production Business, PETRONAS, Malaysia


Ramlan Abdul Malek is currently the Vice President, Petroleum Management, E&P Business of PETRONAS. As the Head of Petroleum Management Unit (PMU), his present responsibilities cover promotion and regulation of the upstream activities in Malaysia. PMU acts as the petroleum resource owner and production sharing contracts manager in Malaysia.

Upon completion of his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom, he joined PETRONAS in year 1979. His 32 years of working experience is mainly in the upstream E&P areas.

Prior to assuming his current position in June 2010, he was the Vice President, E&P Business and had held several technical and general management positions in PETRONAS, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, and PETRONAS Research & Scientific Services. Ramlan is a member of the PETRONAS Management Committee as well as the Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Asia-Pacific Sdn. Bhd, Director of Malaysia Petroleum Resource Corporation (MPRC) and Director of Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA).

Dato’ Azman Mahmud
Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)


Dato’ Azman Mahmud was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in February 2014.

He holds a degree in Engineering from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, and has attended several Senior Management Programmes, namely the Harvard Business School and INSEAD.

He spent 25 years with MIDA in various leadership positions in the US, Japan and Malaysia covering promotion strategy and manufacturing & services growth where he played a significant role to promote investments into Malaysia.

He has extensive experience in the international business as well as a broad understanding of the development of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia.


Dato' Wan Latiff Wan Musa


Dato' Wan Latiff has a wide experience in international trade.  He started his career with Tourism Malaysia in 1984 before joining Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the National Trade Promotion Agency, under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1997.

While with Tourism Malaysia, he was posted as Director at its Tokyo office, promoting tourism services exports to Japan. With MATRADE, he served as the Trade Commissioner for almost nine years at MATRADE’s Cologne, Toronto and New York offices where he accumulated more experience in international trade.

Currently, he is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE. He also performed various other functions including in export promotion, finance, HR and procurement. He obtained a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and Master in Business Administration from Mara University of Technology (UiTM).  

He also attended a two-year Intensive Education Programme on Tourism at the Rikkyo University, Tokyo and the 5th ASEAN Senior Management Development Program (5SMDP) at Harvard Business School.  

Wan Latiff has been actively involved in various committees for the trade and export development in relation to the economic advancement for Malaysia.  


Muhammad Zamri Jusoh
Vice President,
Malaysia Petroleum Management


M Zamri Jusoh is the Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management. In his current role, Zamri oversees the overall policy and the management of the domestic petroleum resources and the development of local oil & gas industry to ensure energy security for the country.

He joined PETRONAS in 1991 as Production Technologist and went on to have stints in quite a few department as well as projects. He has held multiple managerial and leadership roles in project development, among which included Garraf, Iraq and was subsequently appointed as Head of Petroleum Resource Development at Petroleum Management Unit, where he steered several flagship projects and development of game changing petroleum arrangements that included three EOR Production Sharing Contracts and Risk Service Contracts. In 2014 he assumed the position of Head Strategy and Ventures Upstream, where he oversaw several notable acquisitions and strategic alliances.

Zamri also served on various cross-business and regional working committees in oil and gas industry. He has been active in Society of Petroleum Engineers activities in the region and served on various committees for OTC Asia. He also sits on the Board of various PETRONAS subsidiaries as well as Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority.

Zamri holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic School of Engineering, New York University. He has also attended senior management program at INSEAD and Advanced Executive Program at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. In 2014 he was selected as the recipient of the SPE Regional Service Award.

Dato’ Sri Idris Jala
Chief Executive Officer, PEMANDU


Dato’ Sri Idris Jala was appointed Minister in Prime Minister’s Office and Chief Executive Officer of Performance Management & Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) on 1 September 2009. PEMANDU is a unit tasked with transforming the social and economic performance of Malaysia. He was appointed Chairman of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation in 2011.

Previously, Idris was Managing Director and CEO of Malaysia Airlines from 2006 and 2008 where he restructured and turned the loss making airline to achieve a record profit of USD260 million in 2007.

Prior to Malaysia Airlines, Idris spent 23 years at Shell in various leadership roles in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and United Kingdom.

Idris holds a Bachelor's degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Masters degree from Warwick University, United Kingdom.
