Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation is governed by an active Board; whose members are representatives of Government, MIDA, MATRADE and PETRONAS. The Board is chaired by YB Senator Dato’ Seri Idris Jala, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who is also Chief Executive of Pemandu.

Datuk Shahrol Halmi leads the management and staff of MPRC as President/ Chief Executive Officer.

YBhg Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi
President/ Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation

 

YBhg Datuk Shahrol Halmi was appointed President/ Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation on May 1, 2013.

Previously, he was the founding Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of 1Malaysia Development Bhd., a strategic development company wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia, to implement new ideas and develop new sources of growth to help transform Malaysia into a thriving economy.

He was previously a Partner of Accenture and Managing Director of the Public Service Group of Accenture Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. with more than 13 years of experience covering the Public Sector, Oil & Gas and Financial Services industries.

Shahrol graduated from the Royal Military College, Sg Besi and Stanford University, California.

Ramlan Abdul Malek
Vice President, Petroleum Management,
Exploration & Production Business, PETRONAS, Malaysia

 

Ramlan Abdul Malek is currently the Vice President, Petroleum Management, E&P Business of PETRONAS. As the Head of Petroleum Management Unit (PMU), his present responsibilities cover promotion and regulation of the upstream activities in Malaysia. PMU acts as the petroleum resource owner and production sharing contracts manager in Malaysia.

Upon completion of his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom, he joined PETRONAS in year 1979. His 32 years of working experience is mainly in the upstream E&P areas.

Prior to assuming his current position in June 2010, he was the Vice President, E&P Business and had held several technical and general management positions in PETRONAS, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, and PETRONAS Research & Scientific Services. Ramlan is a member of the PETRONAS Management Committee as well as the Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Asia-Pacific Sdn. Bhd, Director of Malaysia Petroleum Resource Corporation (MPRC) and Director of Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA).

Dato’ Azman Mahmud
Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)

 

Dato’ Azman Mahmud was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in February 2014.

He holds a degree in Engineering from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, and has attended several Senior Management Programmes, namely the Harvard Business School and INSEAD.

He spent 25 years with MIDA in various leadership positions in the US, Japan and Malaysia covering promotion strategy and manufacturing & services growth where he played a significant role to promote investments into Malaysia.

He has extensive experience in the international business as well as a broad understanding of the development of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia.

 

YBhg Datuk Dr. Wong Lai Sum
Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE)

 

Datuk Dr. Wong Lai Sum was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) since August 2012. She was previously its Deputy CEO I. Datuk Dr. Wong has served in various capacities in Malaysia’s civil service since 1980 Her areas of expertise include international business, taxation, financial and corporate management and strategic planning.

Over the past 19 years at MATRADE, Datuk Dr. Wong headed various Divisions, such as the Corporate Management and the Strategic Planning and was Deputy CEO for Export Promotion prior to her current portfolio as CEO. Datuk Dr. Wong is actively involved in various committees for policy development and design to advance trade and economic growth for Malaysia and speaks regularly at many international seminars and conferences.

Datuk Dr. Wong has a BSc in Biochemistry, a Masters in Business Administration and a PhD in International Business from Universiti Malaya.

Adif Zulkifli
Vice President,
Malaysia Petroleum Management, Upstream Business

 

Adif Zulkifli is the Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) of Upstream Business, PETRONAS. As the Head of MPM, his responsibilities cover promotion and regulation of the upstream activities in Malaysia. MPM acts as the petroleum resource owner and manager of petroleum arrangements in Malaysia.

Adif holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Upon completion of his degree, he joined PETRONAS in 1993 as a Reservoir Surveillance Engineer at PETRONAS Carigali. His 21 years of working experience is mainly in the upstream E&P and corporate areas.

Prior to assuming his current position in March 2014, he was the Senior General Manager of Strategy & New Ventures and held several commercial and management positions in PETRONAS and PETRONAS Carigali.

 

YB Senator Dato’ Sri Idris Jala
Minister in Prime Minister’s Office & Chief Executive Officer, PEMANDU

 

YB Senator Dato’ Sri Idris Jala was appointed Minister in Prime Minister’s Office and Chief Executive Officer of Performance Management & Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) on 1 September 2009. PEMANDU is a unit tasked with transforming the social and economic performance of Malaysia. He was appointed Chairman of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation in 2011.

Previously, Idris was Managing Director and CEO of Malaysia Airlines from 2006 and 2008 where he restructured and turned the loss making airline to achieve a record profit of USD260 million in 2007.

Prior to Malaysia Airlines, Idris spent 23 years at Shell in various leadership roles in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and United Kingdom.

Idris holds a Bachelor's degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Masters degree from Warwick University, United Kingdom.
